Loving yourself can be so hard. Believe me, I know.
I am going to be honest with you, the world around us is not helping. You don’t need to be a Victoria’s Secret model in order to feel confident and look good. There are all different kinds of beauty and you need to embrace what you are.
I want you all to think about something. When I read this, it got my mind going.
You need to learn to love yourself, because someone wants to have what you hate about yourself.
Now, I really took a while to think about this. I have always hated certain parts of my body and my mind, as I think everyone has. But, I have to look at how fortunate I am, I am in good health, I have a roof over my head with a loving family, I really have no reason to feel self pity or to compare myself to others.
This was the exact mind set I needed in order to really start loving myself for who I am.
Yeah, I deal with anxiety and depression, but I am so much stronger now than I was 4 years ago due to what I have gone through. Yeah, I don’t have the body I did in high school, but honestly who does? We all have to grow up and love ourselves during every stage and every hardship our lives throw at us.
Loving yourself is not easy, but if you find a way to love yourself that works for you, you should embrace it.
Here are some tips to start practicing self love.
Take a moment to sit in a peaceful area and just think. It is just you and your mind. No stress, no hate, no hardships, just you and what surrounds you in that moment.
I tend to focus on what I do love about myself when I am meditating. I focus on my goals, I compliment myself, and even think about what I still want to improve while creating a plan to do just that.
Going right along with meditation, yoga helps strengthen your mind and body as you find balance and serenity. Since implementing yoga, I have felt stronger and I have also started to love my body more as I feel stronger.
Yoga is a great way to unwind after a long day and truly love what you are given. If you live near a peaceful park, I highly suggest taking your yoga mat out there and focusing on the nature around you. One way you can do this is by starting a compliment jar. Everyday, you write one thing you love about yourself on a slip of paper and put it in the jar. Whenever you are feeling a little bit down, you can open the jar and see just what you love about yourself!
You can also keep a journal, whatever works for you! Just make sure to only point out the positives, no room for negativity here!
